This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in food manufacturing and a good understanding of BRC compliance.
Ideally, we are looking for an engineer with a balanced 50/50 electrical and mechanical skill set. However, candidates with a stronger mechanical bias will also be considered, provided they have sound electrical fault-finding capabilities and the experience needed to support a busy production environment.
You will be responsible for overseeing the engineering function for one production line, leading a small team and ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime and maintaining high standards of food safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
⦁ Supervise and support a small engineering team, ensuring effective day-to-day performance.
⦁ Take ownership of the engineering requirements for one production line.
⦁ Carry out and oversee electrical and mechanical fault-finding, repairs and maintenance.
⦁ Drive planned and preventative maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime.
⦁ Respond to breakdowns and work closely with production to maintain output and efficiency.
⦁ Ensure engineering activities meet food safety, BRC compliance, health and safety and site standards.
⦁ Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation.
⦁ Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and improved equipment reliability.
About You
⦁ Previous experience in an engineering supervisory or team leader role within food manufacturing is essential.
⦁ A strong mechanical engineering background, ideally complemented by good electrical skills.
⦁ Candidates with a balanced 50/50 electrical/mechanical skill set are preferred, although a more mechanically biased engineer will also be considered.
⦁ Good knowledge of BRC standards and compliance within a food production environment.
⦁ Experience maintaining and fault-finding on production machinery.
⦁ Experience supporting or managing a small engineering team.
⦁ A hands-on, proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
⦁ Flexibility to support the business when production demands require it.
Working Hours
⦁ Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm.
⦁ Flexibility required for earlier starts and later finishes when needed.
⦁ Occasional weekend work may be required, generally around two weekends per month if necessary, paid at an overtime rate.
What's on Offer?
⦁ £50,000 per annum
⦁ Permanent, direct employment.
⦁ Monday to Friday standard working hours.
⦁ Additional overtime opportunities for weekend work.
⦁ Responsibility for a dedicated production line and a small engineering team.
If you have the relevant food manufacturing engineering experience and BRC knowledge, and are looking for your next supervisory opportunity, we'd like to hear from you.
