Damian - Welder

'Unlike other agencies, KFM found work that suited me and made sure I was earning throughout. I came looking for a permanent job, and that's what I got.'

I came to KFM looking for a permanent job. I was driving a van near my local area for work at the time, but I didn't enjoy it and wanted to get back into Welding.

Within a day of applying online, I had an interview booked with KFM. Andy found my work as a MIG Welder. He put me on a day shift somewhere local, and I was starting a few days after my interview.

I was welding metal frames and caravan chassis. Given the work I'd done before, It didn't take me long to get to grips with the role. I was pleased to be in something quickly, and I knew after the initial 12-week period, there was a possibility I'd get taken on permanently.

Midway through my time there, the place I'd been working shut down for a week, but Andy said he'd plug the gap with work elsewhere if I wanted it. I was given work somewhere else for a few days – it was nice to know even as a temporary worker, I had money coming into my account every week.

I appreciated Andy's extra effort to get me in elsewhere and keep me earning. I was even pushing my friends to get in touch and look for something similar. KFM kept things simple, and I appreciated Andy and Ian updating me on how I was progressing.

I was hoping to earn a full-time position. Obviously, you never know, but I'd coped with the work well, so I thought I had a good chance. Ian confirmed they wanted to take me on; from there, it was simple.

Agency work wasn't anything new to me. I'd not always had great luck with them, though. I remember one had me ringing people up on the phone, but it didn't suit my strengths - I needed something more hands-on.

Unlike other agencies, KFM found work that suited me and made sure I was earning throughout. I came looking for a permanent job, and that's what I got.
